The Need To Consider Natural Alternatives To Prescription Drugs

By Ronald Wilson

For several decades now, our society has been over-possessed with the prescription drugs; it has been seen as the best alternative available. This is however changing quickly, in the last few years, the health professionals through their research and publications have been able to convince the society that there are natural alternatives to prescription drugs that offer patients far much better results.

There is no scary moment like the time when the doctor informs you that you have been diagnosed with a terminal condition, whether it is diabetes, heart condition or any other life threatening ailment. Many patients may go into a shock for a while, and when they resume their normal state, all they think is the fasted way to get well. They never have time to question what the doctor prescribes, or even consider if there are other options that may come with better outcomes.

Generally, the laboratory inspired medicines have a chemical makeup that is not natural to that of our genetic makeup. In most cases, therefore, it fails to address the root cause of the ailment. Take the pain suppressants for instance, they target to stop the pain without necessarily curing its cause, as such, one gets a moment of relief only for things to worsen later, unless the root cause cured naturally.

Other than the side effects, the other concerns that have been raised include the tendency of a drug becoming ineffective due to over-reliance. When the system gets used to the drug, it longer responds to it. In addition to this, the disease causing microorganisms such as the bacteria, virus, and other forms of pathogens become deadly when the existing drugs can no longer fight them successfully. This is caused by the tendency of pathogens to change their genetic makeup to become resistant to the drugs.

The other concern is the tendency of the body to resist drugs in the long run. When any drug is used over a long period of time, it eventually becomes ineffective given that the pathogens in the body become resistant to them. At this time, there is a likelihood to over-use drugs, which could be detrimental to essential organs like the lever and the kidney, leading to regrettable results in the long run.

In addition to this, our body gets addicted to the prescribed drugs, and with time, they become ineffective forcing you to try the new drug which may also become ineffective letter on. The problem becomes much worse when some of the medications start destroying the liver. This is common with the elements like acetaminophen that is common with most pain meds.

Back pain, for instance, can be treated with just four chiropractic treatment sessions, and there is overwhelming scientific evidence to support this. The best and least costly method to lower the bad cholesterol in the body for instance is to focus on a diet rich in elements that suppress inflammations. Garlic, oats, olive oil and even red wine for instance, are just a few examples.

The natural alternatives are also cheaper and tend to be more effective in the long-run, as they target to deal with the root-cause of the problem. However, before you decide to switch to these solutions, you need a doctor's opinion given that the success depends largely on your state of health.
