Make An Appointment To Learn How A Tallahassee Chiropractor Alleviates Migraine Headaches

By Anabel Clark

The limited number of studies done to learn what causes migraine headaches, show more promise than originally expected. Those who have been plagued by migraines and receive chiropractic care, have fewer episodes. They report the pain as being less intense when one does occur. As a Tallahassee chiropractor will confirm, the results seem to indicate promise for the efficacy of using spinal adjustments to alleviate the pain of migraine headaches.

More than 25 million individuals have experienced migraines in the United States. Women account for seventy-five percent of these. You may know that these are throbbing and intensely painful. There is sensitivity to light and noise. The nauseous feeling that accompanies them often results in throwing up.

What is known is that the first migraine usually occurs prior to age 30. There may be a genetic component as they are found to run in families. The frequency varies widely and tapers off as the person grows older.

No one can say why, but they are the result of constricted blood vessels in the brain, followed by a dilation of those same vessels. The pressure leads to the pounding of the migraine. No one can show a reason for the blood vessel constriction. However, there is a list of things that are possible triggers.

Some are foods, such as cheese for one, that may be a trigger. Strong odors are suspected too, along with changing weather conditions and bright lights. A discussion with the chiropractor can be the optimal way to discover what may trigger your migraines.

These are topic to discuss when you have your first office appointment. There will be notes taken on your medical history. A physical exam will be conducted. You will be questioned about how often the headaches occur and how excruciating they are.

After a thorough evaluation of your condition, a plan for your care can be put into place. If spinal adjustments are thought to be appropriate, a series of appointments will be scheduled for them. Your subsequent appointments will require less time than the first one due to the in-depth evaluation.
