How Nickel Causes Hair Loss

By Ida Dorsey

Nickel is a metallic elements that occurs naturally in nature. It has several uses in our daily lives. It occurs a silvery-white metal with a golden tinge. It is a transition element that is hard and can be rolled into wires. Ways in which nickel causes hair loss are yet to be proved. Study is still underway as pertaining this issue.

This metallic element has many ways of application. One of them is designing the machines used in the production of power. This metal is mixed with other elements and then used to create other more requiring machine designs such as the gas turbines in production plants. It is also used in the manufacture of locomotives and automobiles.

Mixtures of this metal with other metals are also used in the creation of electric and other forms of special engineering elements. These are called metal alloys. Addition it is also used in creating coins, and marine engineering as well. Marine engineering is also dependant on this special kind of metal to carry out its functionality. The electric application is the most used however as it is more universal in nature.

One of its many uses also is providing a hard-wearing and decorative surfaces. It is also very essential in the process of creating rechargeable batteries used by phones and other gadgets. Creation of stainless steel for the production of fine utensils and discs for recording purposes. Nickel elements can be collected and recycled at the end of their useful life.

All these application are made possible by several unique qualities of this metal. Unlike other, nickel is better at corrosion resistance. It is stronger than majority of metal elements and can withstand high temperature to a very high level unlike most metals. It is as well magnetic in nature and can therefore respond to forces of magnetism.

Like any other element in nature nickel also has several ways in which it can cause harm to life or quality of life. Most metals are also toxic in nature and due to this they can cause harm to people. Some of dangers involved here are poising of heavy metals. There have also been cases of allergic reactions to direct contact with this metal.

The allergy is referred to as contact dermatitis. It is basically due to exposure to an irritant chemical compound. It has signs such as itching, redness and burning as well. Loss of hair is not one of the symptoms however. Hair loss also known as balding is majorly a genetic problem. The people that experience hair loss have a coding in their genes that causes this particular problem.

This has however not been proven to have an association with the exposure to the metal. Many schools of thought associate this condition of balding to genetic compositions of the person. Therefore, hair loss cannot yet be attributed to this element until research and further study show the association of the two. By the above facts, clearly it is one of the most important elements in nature today. It has been tried by different companies and the results have been amazing.
