Locations For Marijuana Dispensaries In Phoenix

By Stewart Stokes

Marijuana goes by many other names such as cannabis and it refers to the preparation of cannabis plant. Its usage is as a psychoactive medicine or drug. The plant is referred to as cannabis sativa and it has been reported to contain 483 compounds. Of all the compounds it contains, tetrahydrocannabinol is the major psychoactive part. Tetrahydrocannabinol is usually abbreviated as THC. Several marijuana dispensaries in Phoenix provide medical prescriptions for patients with different medical conditions.

Cannabis contains more than 65 other cannabinoids besides tetrahydrocannabinol. Consumption of this product is done in many different ways including vaporization, smoking, and eating in different forms. Smoking is mostly done in the form of hand-rolled cigarettes in pipes. It is also common to see people filling emptied cigars with the drug and smoking from the cigars.

Compared to other methods, vaporization as a method of consumption is relatively new. This method is meant to prevent one from inhaling smoke. The process entails the use of devices known as vaporizers to pull active ingredients from the plant and collecting the vapor extracted in a storage unit. The vapor is then inhaled eliminating the need for smoking. Consumption can also be done by mixing cannabis in various foods such as candy, cookies, tea, and brownies.

Reasons why people use cannabis vary from person to person. However, in most cases, its for recreational or medicinal purposes. Spiritual or religious reasons are also causes for use. In 2013, global consumption among people between 15 and 65 years of age ranged between 2.7 and 4.9 percent. In the US alone, the percentage of consumption was 43 percent with an increase in 2016 to 51 percent.

At least one out of three Americans has used this drug in the United States. The statistics indicate that marijuana is the most commonly used illegal drug both in the United States and the whole world over. The usage of this substance dates back to the third millennium and its use has be restricted in most countries for various reasons. It is illegal to possess, sell, or use the drug unless one does so for medical reasons under a prescription.

Medically, the use of cannabis is because of its physical and mental effects, which include heightened mood, general change in perception, and increased appetite. The substance is useful in treating or managing several medical problems. For example, it is used in chemotherapy to reduce nausea and vomiting, improve appetite in people with HIV/AIDS, and for treating chronic pain. It also helps with muscle spasms.

Cannabis produces several short-term effects in people. Some of them include dry mouth, red eyes, paranoia, anxiety, impaired motor skills, and decreased short-term memory. Depending on how the drug was consumed, short term effects take different amounts of time to start showing. Long-term effects include addiction, behavioral problems among children, poor health, and reduced mental ability.

There have been protests against legalization of cannabis in the US. As such, some states have legalized its use for medicinal and recreational purposes alone. One major concern is that major aspects of the drug including production are not regulated.
