Seven Commercial Uses Of Cryogenic Gases

Over the years, technology has improved and brought about inventions that make processes and systems more efficient. Since world wars fluids have been used to transport and preserve items and among those commonly used are Cryogenic gases. Over the years, they have revolutionized and incorporated more effective ways to harness their properties. These fluids remain at their liquid state at extremely low temperatures. Discovery of this property has triggered their application in a number of ways and among them include the following which are used across all industries.

One of their uses is in the transportation of foods. Moving massive amounts of foods into distances places requires that the foods are frozen during the process. Using other alternatives is expensive and fails at times. However, when these products are used, they enable this work. It ensures that they remain fresh and are not contaminated as no bacteria can thrive in those temperatures.

Storing of blood is another of its application. Prior to this invention, there was always a problem where they used systems that would lead to the blood getting contaminated or out of order. There are certain types that have to be stored as they are rare. Once these gases are used for the purpose, it remains fresh and poses no health threat when it is used.

They are used in entertainment areas to lighten the stages. Discos and other functions apply them to entertain the crowd. The gases are released in the form of fog and are usually more effective where there is limited light. A chilling and relaxing effect is felt on their application. This is proven to be safe for application in such places unless for those with allergic reactions.

In addition, recycling plants make use of the fluids. Turning the products into their liquid state and then remolding them is an expensive and resources consuming activity. Once the liquids are applied, an effect of freezing is created which make the particles of the material being recycled disassemble and from there it becomes easy for the plant to produce the item that they desire out of the material.

Manufacturing plants also used them to sharpen and cool their machines. Oxygen is used to perform a couple of functions in the various industries and especially those which require to have their tools sharp for productivity. Cooling is another property that is needed for a majority of tools, and these fluids provide for the function. Their use is more effective and saves immensely as compared to the use of other products and activities.

In addition, rockets use these as their propellants. Liquid oxygen, hydrogen, and helium have been used to drive these rockets into space. Using other fuels would be ineffective and at the same time would cost a lot of space and resources and hence the preference for these fuels. Being light is the reason why the users prefer applying them to drive the rockets into space.

Finally, the products also aid in the transmission of electricity in huge cities. Moving power across cities that are overcrowded is not simple. Accidents are likely to happen in the course if they apply overhead system. But there is still a problem when underground systems are used. To reduce the heating and resistance created by underground cables, the gases are used and thus uninterrupted power transmission.
